Traditional methods of insurance marketing include yellow pages, television, radio, and newspapers. The problem with these advertising methods is that you pay for the entire circulation of the medium, and not for actual visitors to your own website. Imagine how effective your website promotion dollars could be if you could target people who were actually looking for what you had to sell, and if you only paid for people who were interested enough to respond to your own advertisement!
Well, that is what pay per click (PPC) advertising on the internet does for you. You can set up your ads to run in certain local areas, the whole US, another country, or even the whole world. If you are appointed to sell insurance in Texas, and you have a hot product that has been approved in your local city, you can narrow your range to that area. Then, you bid for clicks, so you are only paying for people who actually come to visit your website. You can also control your budget with ease by either setting a maximum daily or monthly budget. If you find that your campaign is very profitable, you can scale up your budget with a few clicks of the mouse. On the other hand, if you do not do so well, you can pause your campaign in moments while you consider your next move.
Another advantage of PPC ads is that they allow you to test new products very quickly. If you believe you are marketing the cheapest auto insurance or best small business health insurance, then set a budget and run a campaign to see if consumers are really interested in your product. If the product doesn’t generate much interest, then you can learn that quickly, before you spend a lot more money with traditional advertising in a major metro newspaper of TV station. On the other hand, you may find that your product really is as attractive to consumers as you thought it was, and you can allocate a large budget to saturate more advertising channels.
