This article is for the serious sales person, and any work at home business.
Do you see make TYPOS? Nobody is perfect.
Even a truly professional Internet marketer is only human. However, a software similar to “MSWORD” is best for editing your ad, email message, WEBPAGE text content, etc. . . . . BUT . . . be sure the final content is COPY/PASTED into a .txt file BEFORE uploading it to your site, email or newsletter.
If you see others mistakes I made, let me know. I may have sprinkled some in my article to see if you are paying attention.
TODAY’S SUBJECT – POWER Network Marketing ON and OFF Line
Perhaps, several of you reading my article, are employed in the Real Downtown World, which is flooded with traffic, loud noises, beeping horns, and flashing lights. This is the world of bricks, motor, steel, and concrete. The real world is comfortable for you.
The language is familiar to you, in the small corner in which you live. You know how to manage your business, if you have one. The laws are clearly defined. All that is required of you is to obey them and life is great.
Others may have completed their initiation into the intensive, VIRTUAL WORLD where events occur faster than the speed of light. This is the a world free of that pollution of sound and air. You are about to burst through the barrier of success, or at least trying to, as you begin your journey to success on the Internet. But . . you are disorientated . . . not dumb . . . the language has changed, time is measured in milliseconds and measurement is in pixels, not inches or feet.*

The rules have changed. There are fewer rules because it is still a new world. Investment to start work at home business is minimal; so is payroll, rent, advertising costs, travel expenses, (assuming you just started a work at home business). The sound and air pollution is replaced by Mozart, Linda Ronstat, Elvis, or anything you choose. After all, it’s YOUR WORK at HOME OFFICE in this creative new world of the 21st century.
No one is yelling at you . . “Jim! Where are my sales reports?. Is the Newsletter Scheduled for publishing? Did you place this week’s ads? Where are our profit reports for this month? Do we have money in the bank?” Why? Because you are your own boss.
During my three years of initiation on the Internet I have taught myself to be disciplined, and driven with motivation. I developed organizational skills, computer skills, and writing skills, (I do make typos occasionally). I am a self-taught, creative internet marketer. I attended a community college to my learn computer skills. Over the last ten years, I practiced and practiced to hone my skills to a razor’s edge.
If you don’t have any ONE of these skills, or characteristics, DO NOT ATTEMPT to start a work at home business until you DO have all the skills. Otherwise you will fail.
I have no employees because I can accomplish more work, using my computer skills faster than a small business in the Real World. Well . . . most all . . . and at less cost. I can place ads to Billions, (that’s right Billions with a “B”) with the click of my mouse.
Anything I can’t do is sub-contracted out, to those I TRUST.
What I just described is INTERNET NETWORKING AT ITS BEST!
Net working may be on line or off line.
In the Real World, companies spent thousands to MILLIONS of dollars to have their key employees join country clubs, social clubs, charities, or professional organizations THEY WANT their key employee to NETWORK and . . . be ACTIVE PARTICIPANTS, to make important contacts, and pass out their business cards.
YOUR WEBSITE must make a good impression. Your business card in the virtual world is your website.
Not all websites need to be flash and macro media to catch your visitors attention, although the more INTERACTIVE it is the more your potential client may RETURN, to have another enjoyable visit AND BUY something. Or, give you their information, to receive continuing updates from you, and find out, if what you offer is hype or truth.
All websites MUST BE OPTIMIZED in SEARCH ENGINES to receive targeted visitors. Targeted visitors may also come from a well planned, SPAM FREE email campaign. They are the ones looking for something YOU OFFER.
Maybe you offer the best affiliate information on the Internet, maybe you sell your best old fashioned , recipes or, maybe you sell a chance to win a new car . . . but . . . what if your new visitor wants to BUY A CAR. How did they find YOU?
Most likely they were SURFING for cars to BUY, and your keyword was “survey to win cars “. They do not want to complete a survey on a CHANCE to win a car, they want their car, from you NOW.
Several things may be wrong:
(1) wrong keywords, (2) wrong category when submitting you site to Search Engines (3) insufficent content or other information, describing your lottery, instead of your CHANCE (4) improper or missing tags (5) wrong color, (search engines do not “see” the color white (6) no Google site map (7) no Google (or other SE) verification, and . . . mis-spelled KEYWORDS.
This is what an SEO GURU does. He knows what to do and how to do it, after spending MANY YEARS learning how, or being certified. It is an ART AND A SCIENCE.
We are not GURUS . . . however, we do know how to, and have, optimized our own site to have top positions, in all MAJOR search engines WORLD-WIDE. Not for obscure keywords, but highly, very competitive, keywords/phrases. I am not bragging, THAT’S FACT.
As a CONTINUING optin subscriber to our newsletter, Work at Home Marketing Strategies 2007, you may, on occasion, receive a helpful hint about SEO. If you miss reading our newsletter, then you miss a key ingredient for best practices SEO. This should be a subject of interest to you.
If designing effective email ads, with high open rates , is something you need to improve upon stay subscribed. We know how to do it right. If you don’t do it right, your emails will not be opened; they may be blocked by SPAM filters; or worst yet, reported as SPAM.
What I just described above were some important components of Networking in the VIRTUAL WORLD.
Let’s discuss networking in the REAL WORLD.
Here is a TRUE story about an incident that happened to me last week, at a McDonlads Restaurant, in Tucson, Arizona, near where I live. I happen to like McDonald “Sausage Egg McMUFFIN”. I mentioned before, breakfast is my favorite meal. As I was returning with my tray, I noticed a gentlman intensely scrolling around on his laptop computer. My sales antennas went up. I sensed an opportunity.
As I approached, I said, in a warm friendly way, ” I could not help noticing you have a computer”.
“Yeah, I’m trying to work offline with my favorites” he said. From that point, we CONNECTED, with a common topic. We chatted for awhile. He became quite serious. He drilled me to the back of my booth, bombarding me with question afer question. The conversation became defensive.
I teach what I know, using words and demonstrating the results, a similar method your high school teachers may have used when they taught you CALCULUS using their classroom board, then asking someone to write an equation. That may be a stretch analogy, but I think you understand the concept.
If my client cannot follow my procedures, EXACLY RIGHT, I have not taught them anythig. I gave them answers to memorize for a future test, for example: 1 (a), (2) d (3) b etc. However, if my client can WATCH my procedures, and VISUALIZE the result, he or she will KNOW the answers, because he or she will KNOW THE THEORY, see the theory, and APPLY THE THEORY. The result will be the correct ANSWER to any question on any test.
If you are a teacher reading this, am I RIGHT?
The proven fact is, the more senses: sight, touch, hear, feel, employed in the teaching process, the faster and more memorable the answer.
He only had one computer. He wanted the answer without a demonstration. Net result , we were both were frustrated. Nonetheless, he did ask for my BUSINESS CARD. I did NOT HAVE one with me.
I had just gotten up, and had not had my first cup of coffee. But I did write my name, telephone number and website address on a NAPKIN. Guess what? He called me. He wanted something very much, My INFORMATION, even though we could not communicate. That was POWER networking in action in the REAL WORLD.
The same day, I went to a local computer store to update my computer. I wanted one according to my specifications. I needed a very knowledgeable sales person. I was fortunate to meet “Tom”, (not real name). Tom was outstanding. He knew everthing there is to know about a computer from a technical stand point, but not an advertising and marketing stand point.
He asked why I use a computer. I explained, “I have a website, I perform consulting services at reasonable rates and build websites”.
He wanted to know more about my information.
Again I wrote my name, phone number and website address on a napkin. He gave me his father’s name for another service I needed. The ball started rolling. From there on it was success all day . . . three sales two prospects out of five contacts. If my math is right that’s a 60% close rate.
Right?
And . . . Without a business card for him to see and memorize our branded logo, or company slogan,
“Creative Ideas for Marketing and Advertising in the 21st Century”, (subject to trademark and copyright law of course).
And . . . his dad and I are discussing ways to solve my need. He KNOWS I am a TARGETED buyer.
Here’s the moral of my long Power Networking ONLINE AND OFFLINE story. Always carry business cards, but not just any business card. Carry a business card that packs a punch online and offline. Have your business card look appealing and creative offline, have you website look appealing online. Have both optimized with YOUR KEYWORDS. (I just received my new optimized business cards from DHL courier service today, February 13, 2007. Now I will able to Network again, AT LAST!)
That way, Real World and Virtual World contacts/visitors will know exactly who you are, and what your company is all about. They will put your card in their wallet, on their refrigerator, (I have a magnetized version also), or save your site as a favorite on the Internet. They will be guaranteed future sales. Think about it.
Do I practice what I just said? You bet . . . (except when I run out of cards) . . . but I still manage to get the word out.
