In this article I’m going to talk about what placement targeting is, how you can use it to get targeted, cheap
traffic to your sites and also how to use automation tools that will get the job done for you so you don’t have to.
If you don’t know what placement advertising is, its basically a system inside Google AdWords which allows you choose websites that you would like to place you advertisements on. You can either go out there manually and choose some websites that look good to you, or you could browse through Google’s in house suggested sites. (which I don’t recommend)
Here’s the problem with advertising in this way. Manually going out there and finding enough websites to place
you ads on is tedious and not practical. It would literally take you days to find enough specific websites to get
you the amount of traffic you need to sell enough of whatever you’re selling.
The second option is to let Google suggest websites that they think are relevant to the keyword you provide for
them. They will give you a bunch of sites that are high traffic and popular. Great! right?
Not exactly.
Here’s the thing, you don’t just need traffic to your site. You need TARGETED traffic your site, and you need a
lot of it. If you use the Google suggested sites you’ll burn through money and your conversions will suck.
The solution is to find SPECIFIC websites that are super targeted to your keyword. Google will not give you
these sites. You have to go out and find them. You literally have to type in every one of your keywords, click
every page and decide if it could be a good match for you.
I know, I know…
Who wants to do that right?
The last option, the easiest and laziest option is to use automation tools that literally go out and find these
targeted sites for you. You tell them what to find, you minimize it and let it go to work for you. Doing this
process manually is fine as well and that how I did it for a long time.
So either start manually finding targeted sites and take action on the placements system or check out some
tools (I’ll give you my favorite one in the resources section below)
Either way, go out there and take action!
